Comprehensive Franchise
Training Program
Don’t have any shipping or packaging experience? Not to worry. Our comprehensive training programs will give you and your staff all of the knowledge and skills required to operate a Navis franchise. Our training program is one of the most comprehensive in the franchise market because we’re dedicated to your success.
Training Overview
Our 12-week program begins with three weeks of online coursework and tasks related to your site, a two-week session at corporate headquarters, one week at an operating warehouse, six weeks of post-training follow-up and a two-day certification visit to your site by an experienced operations specialist.
Training: Phase One (About three weeks)
- Mentors: You’ll be matched with an operations and a sales support mentor. These two people stick with you, not just through the training program, but also as you launch your business.
- NavisConnect and FranConnect: You’ll be trained on these core business tools that will help you manage operations and sales. You’ll be assigned tasks using these tools that will help you open your business.
- Human resources: TeamNavis will assist you with hiring quality employees.
- Facility leasing and build out: We help you understand lease agreements and build-out options.
Training: Phase Two (Two-week course of in-class and hands-on training)
You will attend a two-week course at our Denver headquarters. By alternating between classroom learning and hands-on experience in a Navis Pack & Ship warehouse, you’ll gain both textbook and real-world knowledge. You may also bring one employee for training at no additional charge. This allows you to focus on running your business – not training employees – when you return home. This training Includes:
- Navis standards and operations, how to navigate in the transportation industry, and how to run a successful small business.
- NavisConnect and FranConnect: Build on what you learned in Phase One: Streamline estimating, booking and invoicing jobs as well as managing customer relationships and communicating with the Navis network.
- Small business financial management, basics of warehouse operations, sales and marketing strategies and effective sales techniques.
- Field experience: You’ll visit one of our local Certified Field Training Centers for hands-on experience seeing how a successful warehouse operates, how to operate profitably and how to close sales calls.
Training: Phase Three (About one week)
You’ll spend a week working in one of our Certified Field Training Centers to gain first-hand experience in a high-volume franchise location. You won’t watch the action – you’ll make it happen. Training includes: Working in the "back room," running pickups and deliveries, making sales calls by telephone and face-to-face and shadowing the managing franchisee through the entire sales process.
Training: Phase Four (About four weeks)
Your training team will work with you to ensure that your facility is properly built and ready to open on time. By providing you with the most efficient floor plans for the business, and assisting you in obtaining the correct business licenses, our specialists will help to ensure you properly address every last detail and are ready to smoothly transition into opening and operating your business.
Certification Visit
When you are ready to open, an operations specialist will spend several days on-site to ensure that you have met all the operational criteria needed to successfully open your doors. Once you have been certified, your customized website will go live and you’ll be ready to do business!
Ongoing Franchise Support Services
After your doors are open, your Navis team is still here for you! These are a couple of important training support services that we encourage you to utilize:
Revenue Enhancement Program (REP)
This program helps your sales team identify the best vertical markets and communicate with each one using time-tested strategies for success. During your first year of business, you’ll participate in two conference calls each week that are facilitated by Navis sales experts where you’ll learn how to find new customers and sell your services. It’s so helpful that many franchisees continue to participate for years!
Live Help Desk Hotline
Call our Help Desk Hotline and get immediate answers to questions about operations, transportation, marketing, insurance, royalties and more. You can get packing advice and authorizations for high-value shipments, or bring issues to the attention of the support team. All inquiries are managed as open cases until resolved, and solutions are catalogued into the searchable Navis knowledge base for future reference. |
