Going on now through August 21st is the “To The Moon: Snoopy Soars with NASA” exhibition at the Stamford Museum & Nature Center. You and your family can celebrate the May 1969 Apollo 10 mission, which nicknamed their command and lunar modules Charlie Brown and Snoopy. Astronauts Thomas Stafford and Eugene Cernan piloted "Snoopy" within 50,000 feet of the lunar surface as they scouted the landing area for Apollo 11, while John Young orbited the moon in the command module "Charlie Brown."

The exhibition includes panels on the history of manned space exploration, video of the Apollo 10 crew, and a children's play area where kids can try on astronaut suits, and have their picture taken as real astronauts. There will also be plenty of plush toys and other Snoopy collectibles available for purchase.

“To The Moon” was organized by the Charles M. Schulz Museum, of Santa Rosa, California and celebrates the excitement of the “race to the moon” in the 1960’s. For more information, you can call 203.322.1646, e-mail [email protected], or visit www.stamfordmuseum.org.
