September is National Recovery Month and Joliet, Illinois is celebrating accordingly. Recovery Month promotes the benefits of treatment for substance abuse problems as well as mental disorders, celebrates those who are in recovery, honors the contributions of treatment providers and promotes the message that recovery IS possible.
This Saturday, September 17th Joliet will hold the 7th Annual Rally Round Recovery at Bicentennial Park to spread the positive message that behavioral health is essential to overall health, prevention really does work, and treatment absolutely is effective. This event is put on by the Southwest Coalition and will run from 9:30am-2pm. Admission is free and, while supplies last, there will be free food and soft drinks and raffle gifts as well.
This is Recovery Month’s 22nd year being celebrated. This free event will feature guest speakers, state and local officials, the Health Resource Fair, music and other entertainment. Come out to celebrate these brave people who have made a decision to live a healthy life and celebrate recovery!
