Computers

When computer shipping, regardless of whether it’s a laptop or a personal computer system, it is important to adequately protect the machine without going over budget.

If possible, it is preferable to ship a computer in its original packaging. All machines should be placed in a heavy corrugated cardboard box with room for additional packing materials. Make sure that the printed weight capacity of the box is more than the weight of your computer. Computers should be surrounded by antistatic bubble packaging, then sandwiched between foam boards. The foam boards should be taped tightly to the bubble packaging. Any extra space should be filled with Styrofoam peanuts.

Wrap the keyboard, mouse, and any other accessories separately to prevent damage during computer shipping. When the computer is packed, ensure that it is unable to move when the box is rotated. Make sure to seal all boxes with strong packing tape or pressure-sensitive reinforced tape, paying special attention to the seams.

Computer shipping does not have to cost a fortune, but it does have to provide protection for delicate hard drives and other parts. The task of shipping a laptop or computer is best left to a packing and shipping professional.
